Introduction
This is an updated Modern Slavery Statement for Magellan Logistics Pty Ltd (ABN 61 079 321 725) and Magellan Logistics NZ Ltd (NZBN 9429041598856) (collectively Magellan Logistics) and relates to the financial year ending 30 June 2025. This statement has been prepared in accordance with the requirements of the Modern Slavery Act 2018 (Cth) (the Act).
Magellan Logistics recognises our responsibility to identify and assess the risks of these types of practices. We commit to combat the existence of Modern Slavery in adherence to the Act within our operations and the supply chains within which we work.
Modern Slavery describes acts of serious exploitation, including human trafficking, slavery, servitude, forced labour, debt bondage, forced marriage and the worst forms of child labour.
Magellan Logistics is committed to meeting community expectations by assessing, addressing and seeking to reduce potential modern slavery risks in the supply chains in which we operate. We respect and adhere to ethical labour practices and ensure that we, our subcontractors, or other third-party entities we engage with are aware of and comply with all relevant laws and labour standards applicable to where we operate.
Company Structure
Magellan Logistics is a privately owned international freight forwarder, founded in 1997 with its head office in Melbourne, Australia. Magellan Logistics also operates offices in Sydney, Brisbane and Auckland, New Zealand. Magellan Logistics contracts an administrative workforce in the Philippines through an offshoring company, MicroSourcing.
Our operations
Magellan Logistics’ primary operations are as an international freight forwarder and customs broker. Our teams coordinate freight movements and border clearances worldwide in partnership with a network of contractors and overseas agencies. We work together to ensure our customers receive the highest service standards and to nurture and grow our commercial relationships.
Our Supply Chains
We contract with various carriers and partner agencies to arrange freight transportation on our clients’ behalves. We partner with many shippers and other organisations to arrange freight transportation via road, rail, air and sea globally, but primarily to and from China, India, Europe, New Zealand, and the USA as our clients require.
Magellan is a supply chain agent. Our service contracts include shipping line carriers, airline carriers, domestic transport carriers and warehouses. We do not own or operate the assets involved in transporting cargo.
We engage our suppliers using service contracts to create long-standing relationships whereby our service expectations are expressed.
Modern Slavery Risks
Magellan Logistics operates in the global logistics industry. As such, we recognise the potential risk of causing or contributing to Modern Slavery practices as they occur in the supply chains to which we provide services. As we become more aware of our obligations under the Modern Slavery Act, we aim to increase our knowledge of the risks within Australia, New Zealand, the Philippines and other countries where we have agencies or operations.
We understand that in our industry, the risks of Modern Slavery extend to people and workers within our operations and, more broadly, in the supply chains to which we provide services and differ in profile based on geographical locations.
Magellan Logistics acknowledges that whilst we have commenced our roadmap to mitigate Modern Slavery risks within our business operations, we have much work to do. To date, we have:
- Implemented mandatory training for all employees on Modern Slavery and how to identify it.
- Developed and implemented a robust policy around Modern Slavery and standards of behaviour and ensured that these policies align with current industry expectations.
Assessing the Effectiveness of Our Actions
Magellan Logistics understands that we need to ensure that our actions to mitigate Modern Slavery must be assessed to ensure effectiveness. We know that reviewing the supply chain in which we participate is a significant task. Magellan Logistics has not discovered or identified any cases of Modern Slavery within its operations. However, this does not mean that Modern Slavery does not exist.
We remain committed to continuing to comply with the Act to ensure we have the right tools to mitigate the existence of Modern Slavery and to make further improvements where we identify potential risks.
Consultation
As a small organisation within the freight forwarding industry, the Managing Director and Senior Management have been involved and consulted regarding developing and implementing our processes and safety measures to mitigate the risks within our operations.

The Management team approved this statement at Magellan Logistics Pty Ltd on 30 April 2025.
