Typhoons Affect Shipping from China and SE Asia

In Announcements Delays Posted August 23, 2018 at 9:52 am

Typhoons affect shipping

Heavy rain and thunderstorms in recent weeks have caused havoc across China, with floods along major rivers destroying bridges, blocking roads and railways and forcing thousands of residents to evacuate. As a result, waiting times in impacted ports, including Shanghai and Ningbo, have increased considerably.

Shipping lines are taking steps to minimize the impact to shipments, including deploying shuttles to connect affected cargo to the intended vessel where possible.

Magellan clients with cargo on NYK Futago v.050S/N have been notified that it is approximately seven days behind schedule due to these weather conditions.

The tentative schedule for Brisbane is as follows:

    • ETB: 26/08/18 at 13.30hrs
    • ETD: 27/08/18 at 06.00hrs
    • The NYK Futago will only be accepting DG and reefer loadings in Brisbane.

We expect to receive more delay notifications as the typhoon season rolls on and Peak Season continues to build.  As we receive notifications we will ensure those affected are also kept up to date.
